How Growth Really Happens
Over the last few blog entries, we’ve talked about jumping before you feel ready.
Step one: Making a decision
Step two: Making a commitment
Today, let’s move into the final step: Figuring it out
Some people see “figuring it out as you go” as reckless or irresponsible.
In my case, that hasn't really been true. In my experience, you only really start to grow when you get moving, take action, and take some risks.
I didn’t succeed in real estate because I was the most educated, experienced, or confident person in the room.
I succeeded because I was willing to get moving, learn what I needed to learn, and keep going.
I knew what I wanted. And went after it consistently...every...single...day.
When something worked, I leaned in. When it didn’t, I tried something new.
And when I didn’t have the answer, I found someone who did.
If you get moving, you can’t really lose.
You either win, or you learn.
And sometimes the faster you "fail", the faster you can find what actually works.
Is there something you really want to do, but you don’t feel ready? Do you know what your dream life looks like, but it seems too risky to actually go after it?
Try this...
1) Decide to make it happen no matter what.
2) Commit to being consistent and set a standard for what that looks like. (For example: How much time you will spend working on it each day or week?)
3) Get moving and figure it out...one action at a time.
You don’t grow by “getting ready”.
Growth happens when you are in it...taking action and figuring it out.
So, jump in. You’ve got this!
