When I was in high school, my dad said something that stuck with me.

He said, “Britt, you should look into storage as an investment. Good money and little effort renting out metal boxes.”

As I started buying real estate, I thought about it but didn’t act on it.
 Mostly because I didn’t know where to start.

Instead of working on what I knew was a good idea, I spent the next 10 years in the thick of residential real estate rental drama, renovating little houses and dealing with tenant issues all for a few hundred dollars a month.

It was exhausting. It was slow. And deep down, I knew I was playing it small and there had to be a smarter way. 

The crazy thing is one great way to go big was already in my mind. But it was just a thought.

Then, in 2020, I heard AJ Osborne, my now partner, on a podcast talking about making $13 million on one self-storage deal.

That moment hit me hard. 

I finally said, “Maybe I should actually learn what this storage thing is about.” So I did. And once I understood it, it was finally time to take action.

Since then, I’ve bought 12 storage deals and co-founded the largest self-storage investing group in the world.

The real shift didn’t come from the strategy. It came from finally deciding to stop sitting on the idea and start doing something about it.
