rules to live by (simple, not easy)

I've been thinking a lot lately about the things that actually move the needle in business (and in life).

Not big complicated strategies.

The simple stuff that's easy to overlook when you're busy chasing goals.

So here are a few rules I try to live by…

Be generous.

Share your time, your knowledge, and your resources.

I've never regretted being generous.

The most successful people I know give freely, and it always comes back in ways you don't expect.

Understand your finances.

Not just your income. Understand your net worth, your cash flow, and your debt.

Where is every dollar going and why?

Financial clarity is one of the most empowering things you can build for yourself.

Focus on what you can control.

This is the one I come back to the most.

There will always be market shifts, bad timing, deals that fall through, and things that don't go the way you planned.

The only thing you can always control is how you show up, how you respond, and what you do next.

Simple rules. But not always easy to live by.

Focus on each one for a week.

With just a little shift of attention, you could have all of these integrated into our daily approach to life in less than a month.

The simple stuff is sometimes the most important.

I used to think I had to work my way into the bigger deals. Then I realized, I didn’t have to wait to go after what I really wanted. I just had to shift my thinking. So I did. And it changed everything.
Thinking bigger, sooner has allowed me to…
  • Close over $100M in deals (and counting)
  • Built a lucrative personal/professional brand
  • Become a thought leader in the industry
