Success Doesn't Eliminate Problems

A student once told me that he started following me when I was renovating houses, sleeping in my van, and washing my hair in the sink. He said my hard work, my hustle, my struggle was relatable. 

Then he saw me putting bigger deals together, traveling, and investing in a beachfront hotel, and it seemed unrelatable. But he continued to watch.

Then he joined the Self Storage Income community. And what he learned gave him the confidence to think bigger, sooner. Now, he is putting in an offer on a storage facility.

I can remember looking at mentors and thinking their worlds were different from mine. I thought that once you reach a certain level you no longer have issues like the ones I was facing at the time.

Now that I have reached a certain level…I can tell you…I’m still facing problems and issues. For one, I had a fire turn a 14 unit apartment building into a 10 unit. Five years ago something like that might have broken me.

Today, I know I just need to find the next step and take it. I also know I have an amazing network that can help me navigate to a solution. 

Success doesn’t take away your problems. The path to success takes away the idea that the next problem will break you.

Deals fall through. Partnerships fail. Apartments sometimes catch fire. But in my experience, when I look back on things that didn’t work out, I can see it was a blessing. I can also see that it taught me something. Something really important…like showing me the kind of deal, partnership, or property I really want.

It’s easy to give up when we get burned.

This path isn’t easy. But it’s worth it.
