your mindset determines what’s possible
Growing up I had asthma and thought I wasn’t athletic. I’d decided I couldn’t run even one kilometer.
In my twenties, I started getting into running, and I was still struggling to finish a kilometer.
Then I heard about the “40% Rule” in a David Goggins book.
Basically…when you think you’re done, you’re probably only at about 40% of what you’re actually capable of.
After that, I remember being on a run, feeling exhausted and wanting to stop. Then I started repeating that idea over and over in my head:
“What if I’m not actually done yet?”
I kept going and finished a kilometer. Then I finished five kilometers. I even ended up doing a half marathon.
That mindset shift changed way more than my fitness. It changed what was possible.
I think a lot of us hit discomfort and assume it means stop.
But sometimes discomfort is just the moment before growth.
The moment before you realize you’re capable of a lot more than you thought.
p.s. doing something you once thought was impossible rewires your brain
